As you are aware there is a Global Steel shortage which has resulted in unprecedented increases in the cost of Steel. The price of Steel has increased by 85% since December 2007 and is still rising.
 
Safety Unlimited has been absorbing the increasing costs. However, with no sign of Steel prices levelling out we are, regrettably, forced into announcing a Steel Price Surcharge of 20%, with effect from 1st June 2008, on the list prices of all our own manufactured Steel products.
  
As soon as the market stabilises, and Steel prices reduce to an acceptable level, we will dispense with the surcharge and resort to our current list prices. 
 
I know that price increases are never welcome, but I hope you understand that these are exceptional circumstances.  
 
As a Company we have tried to be fair to all our customers, where we can control future prices we have implemented a Surcharge, with a commitment to reducing prices as soon as possible.

Oil Storage a Problem?

The final phase of the Oil Storage Regulations came into effect on 1st September 2005. From this date all, externally stored, Oil containers of 200 litres or more have to be stored on a bunded pallet, drip tray, or within a bunded storage unit. At Safety Unlimited we manufacture and supply a range of Storage Units for the bulk storage of 205 litre drums and IBC’s. These units are designed to comply with current Environmental and Health & Safety legislation, are fully bunded, have high and low Flame arrested ventilation, and they are available with sliding or roller shutter doors. All units have a fully galvanised roof and rain gutter to prevent corrosion and they are internally and externally finished in a Chemical Resistant Polyurethane paint finish.
